FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Starting May 1st, some of the most heavily traveled Fax bus routes will be running until 1am on weekdays – and run more frequently seven days a week.
Fresno Mayor Lee Brand says the funding to extend service is coming from the state.
“A lot of people in Fresno simply can’t afford a car or gas and they rely on our public transportation – our buses,” said Brand at Tuesday’s press conference. “What we’re trying to do is make it more convenient for people who have jobs, people who go to school, go to medical appointments. By expanding the service hours, and going to seven days a week, it’s a step in the right direction.”
To celebrate the extended hours, Fax bus services will be free after 6pm from May 1st – May 5th and free all day May 6th and 7th.
