Reedley High Students Arrested For Snapchat Threat

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Two teens from Reedley High School are arrested for making threatening social media posts.

On April 6, 2017, a social media post on “snapchat” was making the rounds at Reedley High School, showing someone holding a handgun.

Reedley Police identified and detained a student who may have posed with the gun while on campus.

The school was locked down while police searched for the weapon, and another student was arrested.

The firearm was later located – an unloaded Springfield XD .40 caliber – which had previously been reported as stolen in the state of Idaho.

Both students were transported to the Fresno County Juvenile Justice Center on felony charges of making a terroristic threat, possession of a stolen firearm, and possession of a firearm on school grounds.

The investigation is ongoing as to how the teen came to be in possession of this firearm.

If you have any information contact Detective Sergeant Johnathon Cates at (559)637-4250 ext. 331.
