FRESNO (KMJ) — Fresno Fire Captain Pete Dern is continuing to recover from serious burns in the hospital and we can help him and others in a similar situation on their roads to recovery.
“It is really important to come in and give”, says President and CEO of the Central California Blood Center Dean Eller. “The seriousness of it all is that people need blood each and every day in our valley hospitals”.
The Central California Blood Center reports that they’ve been inundated with messages from people wanting to help out.
So in response – they’re putting on a blood drive today.
“There are numerous patients just like Captain Dern in the hospital right now that need your support so this need never goes away. Things are happening every minute of every day.
“You just can’t give enough.”
All blood types are being called for – but you o-negatives out there are in the highest demand as the universal blood type can be used on anyone.
If you need a little bit more convincing – the donation process takes less than an hour and all donors will receive a special blue ‘Fresno Fire’ t-shirt. What’s more KMJ’s Broeske and Musson will be broadcasting from there too this morning so you could say hello to them too.
It kicks off at Lithia Subaru on the intersection of Blackstone and Barstow in Northwest Fresno, and it starts at 9am and will be on until 3pm.
If you can’t make it there, the Fresno centers on 4343 Herndon Ave, 1196 E. Shaw (Suite 102), and 1010 E. Perrin are all open between 9am and 6pm, as well as the blood center in Visalia on 1515 S. Mooney Boulevard. Finally, their site in Porterville on 93 N. Main Street will also open at 11am and close at 6pm.
