Congressman Valadao Urged To Vote “No” On GOP Healthcare Proposal

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Hanford area residents are pressuring Congressman David Valadao about Healthcare.

They gathered outside the Adventist Medical Center on Thursday, demanding that the 21st District representative vote “no” on what they call the rushed GOP Healthcare bill.

Their social media is #fight4our heath, and residents say they are doing just that.

“Under the Medicaid expansion, this hospital gets $68 million annually, by restructuring the Medicaid program to the per-capita cap they’re at risk of losing $383 million a year. This is something that would devastate this hospital and devastate the community.” – Yasim Peled, Health Access California.

Representative David Valadao responded in a statement sent to KMJ News.

Statement from Congressman David G. Valado (CA-21)

“Our healthcare system was broken before Obamacare, but Obamacare made it even worse. Possession of an insurance card does not necessarily equate to access to quality, healthcare, a reality my constituents grapple with every day. That’s why we need to find a better solution.

Our healthcare system is incredibly complex and any potential reforms must be thoughtfully considered. As I continue to review the recent proposal from House Republicans, ensuring my constituents have access to affordable, quality healthcare will remain my top priority.”
