FRESNO (KMJ) — A series of three storms are forecast to impact the Central Valley over the next few days, bringing fears of flooding along with them.
The first is set to move in Thursday, but the National Weather Service is expecting mainly light precipitation.
“Looks like one to two tenths of an inch in much of the valley,” explains meteorologist David Spector. “A stronger storm is expected to move in on Friday, and we’re looking at about one quarter to three quarters of an inch of rainfall.”
The first two bands of rain are anticipated before the week is out, with another to follow early next week.
That may end up causing a problem for those who live below Friant Dam, as more rainfall could prompt additional releases from the storage area, moving into parts already saturated along the San Joaquin river.
It’s prompted a flood warning for south-central Madera County and central Fresno County. Residents in those areas have been asked to keep a close eye on the situation, and be prepared to move to higher ground if it gets worse.
