FRESNO (KMJ) — Organizers of the 29th Fresno County Blossom Trail say it’s all about celebrating the tradition of agriculture in the Central Valley.
Although the rain in the forecast has potentially delayed the blossom blooming across the area, the trail is still officially open for business after the ceremony to mark the start of this year’s season took place on February 3rd.
“It is a positive time of year for us, it’s the anticipation of the coming harvest season,” explains Fresno County Office of Tourism’s Kristi Johnson.
“It allows us to pay tribute to that before all of our growers get busy with the actual harvest, so we are celebrating the fact that we are an agricultural county and the heritage that comes with that agricultural lifestyle.
“So we really embrace this sort of tradition and this sort of heritage.”
She promises that it won’t only be a beautiful country drive, but a fragrant one too.
The first blooms are expected in full force around February 17th, but the self-guided trail is already marked out for those who want to see it.
