A large crowd of people at Fresno Yosemite International Airport, met to protest President Trump’s executive order on immigration from seven countries considered majority-Muslim.

Around 200 people came together at around 5pm Sunday evening, with many of them speaking directly to their fellow protesters to explain why they turned up.

“I don’t have a president,” says one man. “Because Donald Trump is not my president and I don’t think he’s your president.”

The announcement was greeted with cheers from the crowd.

“And I’ll tell you something else I don’t have. I don’t have a mayor. Lee Brand refused to make Fresno a sanctuary city when dozens of cities in California are sanctuary cities. He did it for the worst possible reasons because he came to Donald Trump’s threat to withhold funding. He is a coward.”

Protests also took place in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Sacramento.

“It’s just a shame that because we didn’t want to take the time to do it right…that we didn’t consider the outcome that this was going to have,” explains organizer Rebecca Peerson.

She says President Trump’s executive action is tearing families apart, and resulting in those who live in the United States being unable to return home after traveling outside the country.

“He had the opportunity once he took office to bring us all together, we all know how politics work.

“We know that on the campaign trail things are said and I truly believe that had he taken office and had he really shown the humility that a leader should show, that there would be more understanding of his positions.”
