FRESNO (KMJ) — Two LAPD officers are continuing their run to Sacramento, after a quick stop off in Fresno Thursday morning, raising money for those who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The mammoth effort, is to generate funds for C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors) and the Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation, as part of what’s called ‘Project Endure’. Officers Joe Cirrito and Kristina Tudor set out on their journey November 12th. They aim to be in Sacramento by December 8th.

They have been cheered along the route by local police and fire departments, as they endure the approximately 400 mile run.

“When you see your fellow partners coming out and supporting you, all that pain just goes away”, says Officer Joe Cirrito. “I can’t explain it, and you run faster and you feel stronger”.

He adds that they’re not just doing it for their fellow police officers, but the surrounding communities too.

“Letting them know that we’re there for them, and we’ll always be there for them. We love our communities that we work in, we chose this job because it’s community first”.
