FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Scientists at the Mayo Clinic have teamed up with analytics company Beyond Verbal, to explore using a person’s voice to detect heart disease.
Previous research has suggested there are links between voice characteristics and neurological disorders, but this is the first to connect vocal biomarkers with heart disease.
One expert is quoted as saying this is so groundbreaking and new, that it’s hard to describe in layman’s terms.
The study suggests that doctors may eventually be able to diagnose conditions remotely, by analyzing recordings of patients’ voices.
