FRESNO (KMJ) — Fresno County’s Sheriff hopes the working relationship between the County Jail and Immigration and Customs Enforcement will serve as a guide for the rest of the country under the upcoming Donald Trump administration.
Public figures across the country have already started speaking out against the plans laid out by the President-elect, which include efforts to deport millions of people in the country illegally.
“We will continue to cooperate with ICE and help them with their job in identifying those that are here illegally”, confirms Sheriff Margaret Mims.
“We’ve got a great relationship, in fact it’s a model nationwide that I would hope that the President-elect would take a look at and encourage ICE all over the nation to cooperate with local law enforcement”.
Sheriff Mims says they make it easy for enforcement officers to do their job, by inviting them into the jail.
“I would encourage the new administration to take a look at what we’re doing and use it as a model policy”.
