FRESNO (KMJ) — A multi-million dollar two-company acquisition by a Central Valley based tech firm, could bring fringe benefits to every one its residents.
The deal by BCT Consulting is said to cost less than $5 million. It brings ‘TeleDynamic Communications’ and ‘Wireless Fiber Technology’ into the Fresno area.
“Even though we’re acquiring companies in other locations such as the Silicon Valley, the plan is to relocate and grow within the Central Valley”, explains CEO of BCT Consulting Eric Rawn.
As well as bringing around 50 new tech jobs to Fresno, Rawn detailed proposed infrastructure improvements for its residents.
“My primary goal for one of the acquisitions, the fiber optic company, was the benefits that it gave us for future growth with fibre technology.
“We’re also working on a number of wireless fiber technologies that allows us to shoot fiber speeds through the air. That allows us to go last mile, so instead of running the actual fiber that is basically conduit that shoots light through it, we can shoot it with wireless technology”.
That would mean infrastructure would not need to be built in order to bring faster internet speeds to the area.
“Those speeds are over 1-gigabit per second”, explains Rawn. The top download speeds available to homes in Fresno currently stand at a quarter that level at 250-megabits per second.
“We’re hoping that we can help light up the City of Fresno among others within the Central Valley and bring the technology that not a lot of other places around North America have”.
The deal was welcomed by Mayor-Elect Lee Brand, who announced his commitment to improving the lives of those living in Fresno.
“There’s so much as stake, we’re transforming a city that’s been dormant for years”.
