FRESNO (KMJ) — Fresno State’s ‘Helping Hams’ campaign is now on. The effort, which is now in its fourth year, is to raise money to buy enough seasonal student-produced hams for those in need.
“This year our goal is 230 hams, right around $7000”, explains dean for Fresno State’s Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Dr. Sandra Witte. “Pretty exciting”.
Donations in increments of $5 are being accepted at the Gibson Farm Market. The drive officially kicked off Monday morning.
“The good news about our goal of $7000 is that we’re almost halfway there”, continued Dr. Witte. She revealed RCO Ag Credit have already pledged $3500 to the cause.
The money will be used to purchase student-produced hams, which will then be distributed to charitable organizations affiliated with Fresno State. From there, they’ll be given to those in need. Last year’s campaign raised enough money to donate 218 hams.
If you’d like to give to the cause, you can do so at Fresno State’s Gibson Farm Market until December 2nd.
