VISALIA (KMJ) — Anyone who ate strawberries at either of two Tulare County eateries in the last two weeks may have been exposed to the Hepatitis A virus.
The recall at Apple Annies in Tulare and Sanad Freeze in Earlimart, is part of a nationwide effort by the FDA.
“We’ve found two restaurants that had used them last week, before they were notified of the recall”, explains Tulare County Public Health Officer Dr. Karen Haught.
The contaminated fruit were being served at Apple Annie’s between October 24th and 28th, and at Sanad Freeze between October 25th and 28th.
“We know the risk is low, but we don’t know for definite what the risk is”, adds Dr. Haught.
Anyone who ate strawberries at either of the two restaurants is advised to contact either their own doctor or the Tulare County Public Health Department to get the preventative vaccine against Hepatitis A.
