FRESNO (KMJ) — The ‘Check Before You Burn’ season has begun in the Central Valley.
The program asks those with wood burning devices only to use them when particulate matter is low enough.
“It applies to all home that have wood burning devices”, explains the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District’s Cassandra Melching.
“It’s our most effective program that we have helping to reduce particulate matter in the air”.
There are three declaration levels for each county to let residents know when they should or shouldn’t burn. A link to that information can be found clicking here.
