FRESNO (KMJ) — A Fresno County Sheriff’s Detective has been taken to the hospital after a crash west of Selma.
It happened Wednesday morning, close to the intersection of Clovis Avenue and Mountain View Avenues.
“One of our Fresno County Sheriff’s property crimes detectives was driving his unmarked patrol car”, explains the office’s Tony Botti.
“At that time there was another motorist who pulled out in front of him, he didn’t have time to stop, and he crashed into that vehicle”.
The deputy’s arm was injured, and was able to walk away from the scene before being taken to the hospital.
“This comes with doing business, every once in a while we have cars involved in crashes. Our deputies drive a lot of miles every single year”.
The incident remains under investigation. It comes days after the accidental shooting of another Sheriff’s Deputy, resulting in the death of Sergeant Rod Lucas.
“We’re going through trying times here at the Sheriff’s Office. We understand any little incident that comes up, we’re on the edge of our seat and so to hear that another one of our deputies was put in a situation where he got hurt – we’re always concerned about that”.
