FRESNO (KMJ) — A section of Highway 58 east of Bakersfield is currently closed after a gas spill there Sunday night.
“At about 11.15, we got a call about a multiple vehicle traffic collision that was involving a semi-truck that had overturned”, explains CHP Officer Justin Foraker.
“Looks like that vehicle overturned and when that happened one of the fuel cells ruptured and began leaking fuel”.
That prompted CHP and Caltrans to close the carriageway between Towerline Road and Highway 223 while the site is cleared.
“It could be dangerous, but we have our HAZMAT units on scene out there right now who that are working on getting all that cleaned up”.
It’s expected the road will be open again Monday evening.
