FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – After he was released of his duties on Sunday by Fresno State, former Fresno State football coach Tim DeRuyter tweeted his thanks to the Red Wave on Monday.
In a series of tweets, DeRuyter said, “[My wife] Kara and I were blessed to be here in the Valley & will always cherish our memories of winning championships & the fantastic people here. We are so thankful for the efforts of our players, coaching & support staff & administration that gave us this opportunity. A final special thanks to the students and Red Wave who faithfully support the Bulldogs. It was an honor to serve as the head coach.”
In 60 games as head coach of the ‘Dogs, DeRuyter went 30-30, posting losing records the last few years – but also led them to two Mountain West championships.
Offensive Coordinator Eric Kiesau will serve as interim head coach for the final four games of the season.
