FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Hurricane Matthew is heading towards Florida – and the state is preparing for the worst.
PG&E announced on Thursday that 20 workers from Fresno will be heading there to help the Sunshine State in the aftermath of the category 4 storm – which is expected to bear down on the area Friday.
The crew from Fresno isn’t quite sure what time they will arrive – it depends on how badly the storm hits. They’re trying to time their arrival to get in right after Matthew passes through, to help fix the damage and turn the electricity back on.
Fresno PG&E Supervisor Joe Holbert said on Thursday the workers like traveling to areas in need to help out. “I think going to storms are our highlights,” said Holbert. “It’s something we like to do. It’s a good feeling to be able to turn our customers power back on and to see everybody go back to their day-to-day life.”
Crews are coming in from all over the country to assist the areas that will be affected by Hurricane Matthew.
