VISALIA (KMJ) — A Visalia man is now behind bars after the makings of four Molotov cocktails were discovered in his home.

Officers say a 50 year old was tracked from his residence on Wednesday, to an apartment complex close to Oval Park. He was seen carrying a black bag, and inside was half a pound of Methamphetamine, scales and a replica firearm.

“We come across several criminals that have these various types of weapons in their possession”, explains Sergeant Damon Maurice.

“What they can use it for is to probably be up to no good, to try to fool a potential drug dealer and or buyer into scaring them with the firearm”.

Police then returned to the home of the suspect, close to the intersection of Grove and Jacob Streets, to serve a search warrant.

[We] found multiple items including a firearm, methamphetamine, he also had four destructive devices which were basically beer bottles with a rag type of material hanging out of the top of it, that if filled with a flammable substance would have been used for a Molotov cocktail type of device”.

The address isn’t far from Highland Elementary School.

The man, identified as Bobby Castaneda, has since been booked into Tulare County Jail, on charges including several felonies and out of county arrest warrants.
