FRESNO (KMJ) — The director of the White House Office of Management and Budget has taken a tour of Downtown Fresno to see how their funding has helped the area.
He was joined on the Wednesday morning outing by Mayor Ashley Swearengin and State Assemblyman Joaquin Arambula.
“I remember, Mayor, walking this mall four years ago and at that point while I think the city was starting to come back there was still a long way to go”, explains Director Shaun Donovan.
The federal assistance been credited with helping revitalize the district, with the Fulton Street project alone getting $16 million dollars in a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s TIGER program.
“We’re trying to create the federal government that can be that kind of partner here, and I’m just so gratified to be back to see the progress that you’re making.
“I can’t wait to come back and keep watching as Fresno grows and develops and becomes the vision that all of you want to see”.
