VISALIA (KMJ) — Intense police action in Visalia after two big calls only two blocks apart close to the intersection of Willis and Murray.
The first call came around 10.30am Tuesday morning, after a note was found in the mail slot of a nearby business. Bomb disposal experts were called and the area was searched for explosives.
“We responded, and out of an abundance of caution we asked our Tulare County bomb squad to come to the scene and look at this note and search the area for any type of suspicious device”, explains Sergeant Damon Maurice.
“We’re glad to report there’s no explosive device found”.
Police later established that the note that was left was meant as a joke by someone who knew the owner. There have been no arrests made as investigators have established that there was no criminal intent.
Around an hour later, Visalia Police Detectives responded to a man in a vehicle identified as being involved in an ongoing, but separate, investigation.
“Some of our unmarked cars, which is what they travel in, boxed in a suspect and asked for some additional units to respond to the scene”.
That suspect has since been taken into custody.
