HURON, CA (KMJ) – A 21-year-old man is dead – killed while working in an almond orchard.
Fresno County Sheriff’s Deputies were called out to an orchard located near Highway 198 and Lassen Avenue on Thursday morning, after getting a call from a man about a co-worker being injured.
When they arrived, they found the man – Jorge Barraza of Huron – deceased, seated in a machine that picks up almonds in the field.
Barraza apparently struck an electrical pole while driving the machine, and then collided with a tree. Deputies have not determined what caused the man to crash. An autopsy will be performed.
