Local Law Enforcement “Torch Run” for Special Olympics

TORCH RUN

Members of the California Highway Patrol, Fresno Police Department, Department of Corrections and the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, Clovis Police Department, SCCD Police and American Ambulance will hit the pavement on June 20th, to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics and our local athletes.

“The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the largest single contributor to support these athletes and we are very proud of that.” – Sheriff Margaret Mims.

The Torch Run will begin with a ceremony at Chukchansi Stadium at 8:00 AM, followed by the Presentation of Colors. Fresno State Men’s Basketball Coach Rodney Terry will be on hand for the ceremony.

Officers and athletes will proceed to Courthouse Park and run north on Blackstone Avenue.

There will be three water stations for runners located along the route.

The approximately 9-mile long run will end at Dog House Grill on Shaw Avenue at about 10:30 AM with a closing ceremony.

Several Fresno State football players will be on hand to congratulate the finishers.

The public is encouraged to root on the officers and athletes along the route. The Torch Run is seeking donations to support 16,000 special needs athletes.

The run is open to the public and registration is $25.00 dollars.

The registration fee allows all participants to receive a free dry-fit runner’s shirt and Tri-Tip sandwich with beverage at Dog House Grill.

Runners and donors may go to www.torchrunsonc.org to contribute and sign up for the run to support Special Olympics.
