Fresno Grizzlies Using Political Moment to their Advantage

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – The Fresno Grizzlies are using a political moment from last week to cash in.

A “Latinos for Trump” group co-founder, Marco Gutierrez, made some waves last week when he said on a cable news program that there would be “taco trucks on every corner” should Hillary Clinton win the presidency.

On Tuesday (typically “Taco Tuesday”), the Grizzlies posted on their social media sites photos of new hats that say “taco trucks on every corner”. As you see in the photo, the hats are red with white lettering – similar to Donald Trumps’ “Make America Great Again” hats.

Grizzlies’ Marketing Director, Sam Hansen, says they’re just trying to have some fun – not be political.

“We had people literally tell us ‘that needs to be your new slogan’,” said Hansen. “We thought about staying away from it because there’s some sort of political connotations to it. But at this point, it’s pop culture. And it’s a celebration of tacos.”

Hansen said the hats will be available online at TacosBaseball.com. Also, a limited amount should be in the Grizzlies’ team store beginning Friday.
