FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Governor Jerry Brown and the California legislature have reached a deal on a $115.4 billion budget.
That’s closer to Brown’s proposal, than that of legislative Democrats, who passed a spending plan relying on higher tax revenues.
It includes $265 million for 7,000 extra spots in state-funded preschool and 6,800 child care spots, in addition to extending the state’s health insurance for the poor to children in the country illegally.
Lawmakers will schedule a vote on the new plan before the fiscal year begins July 1.
