Fresno Firefighters Sworn In

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – 16 new Fresno County firefighters were sworn in Friday morning at Fresno City Hall. That means they have passed their 14-week trainee academy. 10 more firefighters were promoted.

This is just the second class that has been hired in 8 years – meaning the department is now growing.

Fresno Fire Chief Kerri Donis said these new hires will help fill some vacancies.

Fresno Fire was also recently the recipient of a SAFER (Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response) grant, meaning they will hire at least 12 additional firefighters after it takes effect in October.  You can find more information about the grant here.
