FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims spoke out on Monday about how difficult the past few days have been for law enforcement, given the shooting Sunday in Baton Rouge that killed three law enforcement officers, and the recent shooting in Dallas that killed five other officers.
Mims said locally that she is involved in talks with local leaders of minority groups to open a dialogue on how to improve relations between Sheriff’s Deputies and the community.
Mims said that while her department doesn’t have enough resources to put deputies in pairs, her team is being told to be more vigilant about being prepared for ambush-style situations. That’s how the officers in Baton Rouge and Dallas were attacked.
