Fresno Homicide Detectives Investigate Body In Canal

FRESNO (KMJ)- A man’s body is discovered in a Southeast Fresno canal.

The Fresno Fire Department arrived on scene at McKinley and Millbrook, on Monday, where a body was spotted in the canal.

Fire Spokesperson Hector Vasquez says Fresno Fire Department’s water rescue team responded at 2:05 p.m., the body was reported in the water up against the grate by an irrigation worker.

Fresno Police arrived on scene and homicide detectives took over the case after the body was retrieved from the water.

“We got there we did find a male up against the grates.” – Lt. Joe Gomez, Fresno Police Spokesperson.

Lt. Joe Gomez says they are not sure yet of the cause of the death.

“The body will be sent to the Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.” – Lt. Gomez.
