FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ/KFSN) — The man who was shot and killed in central Fresno on Saturday has been identified as 44-year-old Jampier Quintero.
The shots rang out at Los Viejones Barbershop on Belmont and Van Ness before 5:15 pm.
Police say there was some sort of altercation that led to gunfire. Authorities say the shooter was in the barber’s chair when they pulled out a gun and started shooting.
When officers arrived, they found Quintero, a 20-year-old outside the barbershop and a 17-year-old who had been shot down the street, less than a mile away.
All three were taken to the hospital, where Quintero died. Both the 20-year-old and 17-year-old were treated and have been released.
Police say that Quintero was an innocent bystander who was taking his kids to get haircuts.
Lieutenant Marcus Gray with Fresno Police said the shooting was not linked directly to the barber shop.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact detectives as this investigation continues.
