Suspicious Death Investigation Underway in Southwest Fresno, Police Say

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ/KFSN) — The Fresno Police Department is investigating a suspicious death in southwest Fresno on Sunday.

Fresno police say shortly after 7:00 am, Southwest officers responded to Tulare Street
and B Street to check on the welfare of a male lying on the sidewalk, not moving.

Officers arrived and found 64-year-old Abraham Tiggs unresponsive, suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest.

Officers and EMS personnel provided life-saving efforts; however, they were
unsuccessful. Tiggs was pronounced deceased on scene.

Authorities blocked off the area.

Homicide learned Tiggs was a member of the unhoused community and was captured on
video around 11:40 pm the prior evening walking south on B Street towards Tulare Street, where he collapsed.

Detectives believe the shooting occurred moments before Tiggs collapsed near
the area of B Street and Mariposa Street.

Officers are canvassing the area and local businesses for witnesses and video footage.

At this time, no suspect(s) have been identified.
