FRESNO, CA – The Cat House on the Kings is asking for help.
With a million and a half less dollars to save pets lives, the 2024 end of year giving is crucial, as the injured cats and dogs keep coming to The Cat House on the Kings.
The Cat House on the Kings famously rescues cats and kittens with the occasional dog or puppy rescue.
However in 2024 the organization has recorded the highest number of dogs/puppies through it’s doors while the donations have plummeted by half of a normal year of fundraising.
The adoption numbers for cats and kittens have also dropped alarmingly.
It is crucial for The Cat House on the Kings to get help during the end of year giving drive to raise as much as possible to balance the extreme medical cases already incurred during the year but to also cover those high cost cases still flooding in like Mary and Magdalene, two dogs from a homeless encampment who have several medical issues.
The illness this year in kittens and cats has been unprecedented with the population explosion and reduced resources.
Having new treatment capability for FIP (Feline infectious peritonitis) is amazing but expensive, especially when you are the only local organization providing it. Cats like Frosty, an FIP graduate, deserve the chance of an illness free life and we want to continue to provide that for those in need.
The Cat House on the Kings has experienced longer than usual length of stay time periods for many cats and kittens that just aren’t getting adopted even though adoption rates have been reduced by half for most of the year.
Even though the lives in our care are “safe” there are too many more that are not safe and they need help. We can only provide that help if we raise a substantial amount for the end of this exasperating year when the weather makes life rougher for those animals fighting on their own.
The Cat House on the Kings is California’s largest no-cage, no-kill, and lifetime cat sanctuary and adoption center. Our mission is to place rescued cats and kittens into loving, permanent homes; to provide a safe, happy and healthy home for unwanted cats and kittens in a unique, no-cage facility; to prevent pet overpopulation through spaying and neutering; and to educate the public about responsible pet ownership.
The Cat House on the Kings offers low cost spay and neuter referrals for the community and operates an adoption center seven days a week inside the Blackstone/Ashlan Petco store in Fresno.
