FRESNO, CA (KMJ) Rep. David Valadao is heading back to Washington.
According to a projection released Tuesday evening by the Associated Press, the Hanford republican held off Bakersfield democrat Rudy Salas for a second consecutive election.
Despite a significant democrat registration advantage, Salas failed to corral enough votes to win the 22nd Congressional district. The district includes parts of Tulare, Kings and Kern Counties.
As of Tuesday night, the Associated Press projects Republicans have 216 seats in the House of Representatives of the 218 needed for a majority. The AP projected Republicans have already clinched a majority in the Senate.
