FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ/KFSN) – A man shot and killed at apartment complex overnight in northwest Fresno is identified.

Details were released during a press conference Friday afternoon.

Police said the shooting was reported shortly after midnight Friday at the Windscape Apartments on Nees near Poplar Avenue.

Officers arrived to find bullet holes in the front door and casings on the upstairs landing.

Inside, the victim identified as 33-year-old Tyler Hamon, was found unresponsive in a bedroom, shot in his back.

Fresno Police Lt. Paul Cervantes says Hamon was rushed to the hospital, where he died.

Police are looking for a shooter.

“I know for sure there was one armed suspect,” said Lt Cervantes.

For now, questions remain unanswered. “We don’t know if the suspect came in on foot, came in a vehicle, came in earlier, all of those thing would be absolutely helpful to us in this investigation,” said Lt. Cervantes.

Police say the victim had recently moved to the apartment complex, and had prior arrests in Tulare for domestic violence and weapons charges.
