FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ/KFSN) — The man who was stabbed to death in east central Fresno has been identified as 23-year-old Jared Rogers.
The stabbing happened after midnight on August 18 at Martin Ray Reilly Park at 750 North Chestnut Avenue by Turner Avenue.
Police were initially called out for a welfare check on an adult who appeared to be bleeding.
When officers arrived, they found Rogers lying in a parking stall with multiple stab wounds.
However, he quickly became unresponsive, prompting officers to initiate CPR until relieved by EMS and Fire Department personnel.
Rogers was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center, where he died.
Officers say Rogers was involved in a fight at the park that led to the stabbing near a gazebo in the park.
Police are still searching for the man.
The suspect in this case is described as an adult Hispanic male, approximately 5’3″ to 5’4″ tall, with a thin build, wearing a shiny blue shirt, jeans, and glasses.
Detectives are still looking for additional witnesses who may have been present during this incident.
