TULARE, CA (KMJ) Marvin Chang was sentenced Friday to 208-years-to-life in prison after his conviction of attempted murder of multiple law enforcement officers.
In February of 2021, the 36 year old admitted member of Antifa led officers on a chase that started in Three Rivers and ended in an orchard.
Chang, wearing a ballistic vest and driving a Toyota Prius, opened fire at Tulare Co. Sheriff’s deputies as well as CHP officers during the chase.
One CHP officer was shot in the shoulder during the firefight before Chang’s gun jammed and he was finally apprehended.
During trial testimony, Chang admitted to supporting political extremism and his affiliation with Antifa and other revolutionary anti-government and anti-law enforcement groups.
He was found guilty of 5 counts of premeditated attempted murder, assault with a firearm of officers and more.
When he was taken into custody, officers found an AR rifle, several magazines, knives and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition in his vehicle. He was also in possession of hallucinogenic mushrooms.
