PRESS RELEASE:

PG&E Hosts Financial Assistance & Support Resource Fair to Help Central Valley Families with Past-Due Energy Bills

WHAT: PG&E, in collaboration with the City of Fresno and Dollar Energy Fund (DEF), is hosting a community resource fair to provide support for families with past-due energy bills. PG&E and DEF representatives will help families apply for financial assistance through the Relief for Energy Assistance through Community Help (REACH) program, which provides a bill credit of up to $2,000 for qualifying households. DEF administers REACH funding. DEF works with local agencies including United Way Fresno and Madera Counties, which will be on-site to help customers connect to assistance programs, including REACH.

To begin the application process, residents are asked to bring the following items:

  • PG&E bill
  • Photo ID
  • Proof of income

Families can also explore other energy bill discounts, support tools and other programs offered by PG&E.

WHEN: August 15, 2024, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

WHERE: Melody Park Community Center, 5935 E. Shields Avenue, Fresno, CA 93727

WHO:

  • Jeff Smith, PG&E Manager, Operations Communications
  • Adrienne Moore, PG&E Communications Representative

WHY: PG&E recently contributed $55 million to increase bill support and expand eligibility criteria for the REACH program to help more low-to moderate-income customers address high past-due amounts, especially over the summer months when energy usage peaks. PG&E estimates more than 48,000 Fresno County customers are eligible for REACH assistance.
