FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ/KFSN) — Travelers at Fresno Yosemite International Airport are being impacted by a global computer outage that affected multiple entities.
Cybersecurity firm Crowdstrike says the issue affected Microsoft 365 apps and services, and escalated disruptions to entities such as flights, knocking banks offline and media outlets including ABC.
CrowdStrike added that the issue believed to be behind the outage was not a security incident or cyberattack and that it is gradually fixing the outage.
In a statement on X, Fresno Yosemite International urged travelers to check their flight status prior to heading to the airport.
Allegiant Airlines has canceled all flights that were scheduled to depart before 11 a.m. Officials say customers can expect an email from customer care team when systems are restored. The email will include options to receive a refund or rebook another flight.
Allegiant warned additional flights could also be forced to cancel later Friday.
According to the airport’s website, as of 12:00 p.m., at least three arrivals and one departure flight have been canceled, with multiple other flights delayed.
Long lines crowded the departure terminal Friday morning as travelers tried to deal with the situation.
Early Friday morning, the FAA grounded multiple airlines including United, American, Delta and Allegiant but some have restarted services.
As of 9:30 a.m., over 2,000 flights had been canceled in the U.S.
“Additional delays and cancelations are expected Friday. Delta has issued a travel waiver for all customers who have booked flights departing Friday, July 19,” the company said in a statement.
