HANFORD, Calif. (KMJ/KFSN) — A suspect has been arrested after a woman was found dead in a home in Hanford.
Police say on May 18, they were called for a welfare check at a home on W. Encore Drive. The woman’s neighbor called police to say she hadn’t seen her in a couple of weeks.
When police got to the home, they found the woman’s body locked inside a closet. They believe she had been there for some time and that she didn’t die of natural causes.
Police say they found the victim’s body in plastic bags and that signs of strangulation were found during the autopsy.
During the investigation, police identified 37-year-old Kelli Yingling as a suspect. She was already in custody for a separate incident.
A homicide charge was added to Yingling and she remains in custody without bail.
The woman’s body has not been identified.
Anyone with more information is asked to contact Hanford police.
