FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ/KFSN) — The Fresno Police Department holding a news conference on Friday, announcing the results of a major gang operation.
Chief Paco Balderrama joined federal, state and local law enforcement to reveal the results of “Operation Gridlock.”
Police say the investigation involves one of Fresno’s most violent street gangs.
The investigation began in the Fall of 2023 and involved 11 different law enforcement agencies.
On Thursday, search and arrest warrants resulted in the arrest of several violent gang members.
The enforcement phase of the operation occurred on Thursday, May 16, 2024, and involved over
800 personnel from 28 different local, state, and federal agencies.

Operation “Gridlock” Summary
- Operation “Gridlock” is one of the largest investigative operations undertaken in Fresno’s history.
- Operation “Gridlock” began in the Fall of 2023 due to gang violence occurring in our community.
- Operation “Gridlock” was comprised of two components: investigations, and enforcement.
- The investigation included officers, detectives, and analysts from eleven local, state, and federal
law enforcement agencies. - The investigation focused on multiple gangs involved in violent crimes including murder, shootings,
illegal narcotics sales, illegal weapons sales, and human trafficking. - The enforcement phase of the operation occurred on Thursday, May 16, 2024, and involved over
800 personnel from 28 different local, state, and federal agencies. - Forty-eight search warrants, and thirty-two arrest warrants were served.
- Thirty-two suspects were arrested, with charges including assault with a deadly weapon, illegal
firearm possession and trafficking, narcotic sales and human trafficking. - Twenty-eight suspects are facing state charges; 4 are facing federal charges.
- In total, 59 firearms were seized.
