FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ/KFSN) β It was a calmer scene at Rowell and Hedges as people from the First Galilee Missionary Baptist Church were leaving their Sunday evening service.
But the news of Saturday nightβs shooting has the church community on edge.
Fresno Police received a shotspotter notification in the area of Hedges and Cedar Avenues around 7:45 pm.
As officers rushed to the scene, they learned one person was shot after a fight broke out.
When they arrived, they found three victims, a five-year-old and 16-year-old boy, as well as a woman.
Surveillance video from the church shows the first officer arriving on scene.
Moments later, you can see more officers arrive and an ambulance pulling in.
When Gilbert Hollins, a minister with the church, heard about the shooting, he made sure to check in with those who lived in the area.
βWe even have members of this church that live in this neighborhood, that reside here and Iβve had to call some of them and check in on them as well,β he said.
Hollins says the church wasnβt struck and no one from their chuch community was hurt, but Saturday nightβs shooting hits close to home for them.
The First Galilee Church community is no stranger to gun violence.
βThis is not the first time weβve been impacted by gun violence,β Hollins said. βWeβve also had a member here whose life was taken.β
One neighbor Action News spoke with on Saturday night said they heard several shots fired and then people screaming.
βWe should all be on edge in regards to gun violence and find a better solution on how to handle these things,β Hollins said.
Investigators continue to search for suspects but believe Saturday nightβs shooting is an isolated incident and there is no additional threat to the public.
Investigators say they have impounded a suspected vehicle.
