Tulare Man Convicted of Child Molestation Faces 550 Years in Prison

TULARE COUNTY, CA (KMJ) – A registered sex offender already convicted as child molester in Tulare is now facing hundreds of years behind bars for a new crime.

59-year-old James Mills was found guilty on Monday, January 29th, 2024 of 11 felony counts of lewd acts on a child under 14, and one count of attempted lewd acts on a child under 14

Each count is considered a strike offense.

The Tulare County DA’s Office says the crimes took place between 2017 and 2021, against a girl between 10 and 13 years old.

Mills admitted to the DA’s special allegations of substantial sexual conduct.

The DA added a sentencing enhancement because Mills was already convicted of child molestation in 1999.

At that time, he was sentenced to eight years in prison and required to register as a sex offender.

On April 3rd, 2024, he will be sentenced for his latest crimes and faces 550 years to life in prison.
