Fresno County Dems Shoot Down Measure E

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) This week, we saw something extremely rare. Local democrats are joining republicans to fight the same tax issue.

“Measure E” is a hotly-debated tax proposal that, if passed, would provide $1.4 Billion over 25 years to make improvements at Fresno State.

On Wednesday, the Fresno County Democratic Party voted to oppose the .25% sales tax due to what they consider an unfair burden being placed on the poor.

In late 2023, the conservative Lincoln Club voted unanimously to fight the (twice) proposed tax increase.

The original version of Measure E failed by 3 points in 2022.

Blake Taylor joined John Broeske to discuss the new developments on KMJ’s Broeske & Musson Show. Listen here:

Measure E supporters emailed KMJ saying the initiative is “a transformative investment in our
community’s most valuable resource, our people.”
