FRESNO, CA (KMJ) It’s been 16 years since Fresno residents saw a rate increase for trash service. Now, a significant rate hike is being debated.
“We have to follow the Proposition 218 process”, Fresno City Manager Georganne White told Broeske & Musson. Prop 218 means the city has to mail a notice about the proposed rate increases at least 45 days before holding a public hearing. The notice will be sent to both property owners and renters.
If a majority of customers return the cards – as a veto – the rate hikes won’t take place.
Listen to the report by KMJ’s Liz Kern.
