FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – PG&E recently approved a rate increase that will cost average customers nearly $400 more, prompting a Valley Assemblyman to fight back.
January 1st, the average PGE household bill will see a 13% increase to about $32.50 a month or nearly $400 extra per year. With rates based on income, even households qualifying for PG&E discounts will pay over $20 more per month, or $250 extra per year.
Monday morning, Republican Assemblyman Patterson was on Ray Appleton’s Show on KMJ warning about what he says is the unsound utility rate case coming as a result of Assembly Bill 205.
“This would require customers to disclose their personal income to the Utilities. This concept is open to fraud as it is a temptation to fabricate lower incomes to get the lower rates.”
–Valley Assemblyman Jim Pattersson
Patterson speaking with KMJ’s Ray Appleton says ratepayers need to fight back.
Patterson says you can give feedback to the Cal PUC by going on their website www.cpuc.ca.gov and lodge a complaint using the rate case number #22070005.
Patterson is calling for the PUC to hold a public hearing in Fresno.
