Unhoused Woman Charged With Murder, Arson in Death of Homeless Man in Culvert

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Fresno police have arrested a woman from the unhoused community in connection to fire that killed homeless man, six months ago.

59-year-old Eric Bennett died in the fire on April 24th.

On that day, Fresno Fire got a 911 call of a fire near the railroad tracks by Norwich Avenue and N. Sante Fe Avenue.

A passerby heard someone was screaming inside an irrigation culvert by the train tracks, and called 9-1-1.

Officials believe Bennett was using the enclosure as shelter at the time.

Investigators identified 37 year-old Felicia Quiroz as a suspect.

On Tuesday, Fresno police officers arrested Quiroz on charges of murder and arson.
