Spees had run for Fresno Mayor in 2016 – he didn’t win – but worked with the Dyer Administration on the city’s ongoing efforts to fight homelessness becoming the Director of Strategic Initiatives for Project Off-Ramp to bring the unhoused into shelter.

Mayor Jerry Dyer remembered his late friend and colleague on KMJ’s Broeske and Musson show.

He was that person that a lot of people went to when they were hurting, when they were in need, when they needed help. H was the guy that folks went to, including myself, H was the guy that I turned to. He was always available and I will miss him, I love him very much.
