FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KMJ) — A retired software engineer is now dedicating his time to making handmade wooden toys for children in Fresno County.

78-year-old Michael Vogt made a generous donation to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday of dozens of wooden patrol cars, fire trucks, tractors, and more.

Deputies often carry books and teddy bears to give to children, well now wooden toys will be added to that list.

The goal of these toys is to bring some comfort to children in difficult situations, while also creating a positive relationship with law enforcement.

The sheriff’s office will also be contributing financially for supplies, to keep this partnership going.
