FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A homeless man accused of a stabbing a man at a Fresno car dealership is officially charged on Friday.

The Fresno County DA’s Office has charged 36-year-old Manuel Bracker with Attempted Murder and Assault with a Deadly Weapon Other Than Firearm.

He’s accused of attacking a 56-year-old employee inside the Lithia Ford Dealership by Bullard Ave. and the 41 Freeway on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2022.

The victim is listed in critical, but stable condition.

It’s not the first attack.

In 2019, Fresno Police Lieutenant Joe Gomez spoke to media outside the Grocery Outlet after Bracker allegedly stabbed a 64-year-old transient woman in the neck in Northwest Fresno, inside the store at Shaw and Marty. “Witnesses say there was some conversation they had prior to this happening,” said Lt. Gomez, who continued “we don’t know if there’s a prior relationship or he just talked to her and didn’t like what he heard and ended up stabbing her.”

At the time, then Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer said Bracker thought the woman was a cannibal, so he stabbed her. Bracker was sentenced to two years in prison for assault with a deadly weapon.

Court records show he has other cases still pending for Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Second-Degree Burglary, and Vandalism, in December of 2021. Bracker failed to appear in court and an arrest warrant was issued.

Bracker is set to appear in Fresno County Court on Monday, Oct. 31st, 2022 in this latest case.
