MADERA, Calif. (KMJ) — Madera Unified FFA department held the first in-person AG Literacy Days event for students on October 12.
This event comes after the pandemic hit which caused the delay and now it’ll run through October 14.
“This is an exciting event for our FFA department which for the past two years had to host Virtual Ag Days on Zoom. To have the students in person on our farm and experience Ag with hands-on activities is the way it was meant to be learned,” says FFA Advisor Julie Luxon.
About 1,200 TK to 1st-grade students from Madera Unified went to the Madera South High School farm and got to learn all about agriculture.
The kids got to experience a petting zoo, they planted pumpkin seeds along with other activities relating to agriculture.
They even got a chance to make a book showing the journey of an orange starting from the farm to the table.
The students also got to take home a pumpkin grown at the Madera South High School farm.
