Fentanyl Suspects Released From Jail, Now Face Felony Charges, Says Tulare County DA

TULARE COUNTY, CA – Felony charges have been filed against two Washington men after they were caught with over 100,000 fentanyl pills in Tulare County.

According to the Tulare County District Attorney, Tim Ward, Jose Zendejas, 25, and Benito Madrigal, 19, were caught on June 24 with 151 packages of fentanyl pills, totaling 151,000 pills.

Both suspects were arrested and booked into jail but were released following a pre-trial risk assessment which classified them as “low risk,” says the Tulare County DA’s Office.

Now, the Tulare County DA’s Office says both men are wanted and face several felony charges. If convicted, they could face up to 14 years in state prison.
